CEO’s Message to BLUE HAWK Stakeholders

Lance Rantala

Hello BLUE HAWK Community,

How are you doing now?  Through the first half of 2021, the BLUE HAWK Members have been experiencing phenomenal growth.  Our co-op’s Members increased their average and median year-over-year purchases by 29.9% and 24.5%, respectively.

What is more, according to our Benchmark BLUE data, the BLUE HAWK Members’ median sales growth was 29.2%, and median EBITDA margins skyrocketed to 10.6% over the second quarter of 2020.  The new high water market for median EBITDA is the highest since launching the financial benchmarking tool.  The highest result was 6.8% in the third quarter of 2020.

Suppose your company is not participating in BLUE HAWK’s financial benchmarking platform. In that case, it is time to get your head out of the sand and to start submitting your quarterly trial balances to Benchmark BLUE’s third-party administrator CoMetrics. Your company’s results are anonymous and secure. You and only you will know how you stack up against the group’s key performance metrics.

Are you ready to sell your business?  BLUE HAWK has a program that can assist. The Growing Forward Acquisition Program confidentially connects Members interested in selling their businesses with Members expanding through acquisitions.

Maximize your Year-End Rebate Dividends with The Dashboard

The end of the year is fast approaching and there are only a few weeks left to maximize rebate dividends! The Dashboard can help your company make beneficial year-end purchase decisions. Log on to the site today to see our Vendor Partner rebate programs and how you’re tracking to meet your goals!

As a group, we have had significant growth in participation on the site from both Members as well as our valued Vendor Partners. The Dashboard allows us to work together to leverage our purchasing and maximize our spend with our Vendor Partners. The more participation from both the Members and Vendor Partners the more we all benefit. We are excited to say we met our 2021 Member participation goal and have dozens of additional Vendor Partners committed to participation in the coming year.  Let’s keep it going.

Schedule your tour of The Dashboard with Jessica Jones today. Or reach out to Jessica directly with any other questions at jjones@bluehawkcooperative.com.

Feel free to contact to the Exactus Advisor team for data upload issues, FTP assistance, or any other data-driven questions at bluehawk@exactusadvisors.com.

2021 Fall Advisory Forum Recap

This year’s Fall Advisory Forum was the perfect way to get back into the swing of in person meetings.

BLUE HAWK held our 2021 Fall Advisory Forum in Pinehurst. Great to see everyone again after a long break. It was a very productive few days of meetings, networking, golf, and sporting clays. The ability to build relationships between Members, Vendor Partners, Solution Partners, and Alliance Partners in a relaxed atmosphere is what it’s all about. A beautiful destination with amazing weather doesn’t hurt either.

Congratulations for the 4th year in a row to the 2021 BLUE HAWK Cup Champions:

Teri Ditsch, Captain HAWK
Lance Rantala, Captain BLUE

2021 Fall Advisory Forum Recap Video

Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.

As a BLUE HAWK Member, you have access to benefits and resources that can make a difference for your business and your employees—the BLUE HAWK Retirement 401(k) program is one more important example.

What is a group 401(k) program?
It’s a group 401(k) solution that organizations can offer to Members, like you, to join—typically at a group rate. The program gathers many tasks involved in operating a retirement plan and hands them over to our trusted partners, like administrative and investment fiduciaries. So you get the benefit of offering a 401(k) plan to employees without having to own all of the work, responsibility and liability.

What’s your take on retirement plans?
We know a lot of considerations come with offering a retirement plan:

  • You may be comfortable with the plan you have.
  • Maybe you don’t think your employees would value such a benefit—or that your benefits can’t compete with larger companies.
  • Maybe cost is on your mind.

The reality is:

  • Your plan may be working—but with BLUE HAWK Retirement, you may be able to make it even better and save money.
  • Retirement plans are some of employees’ most valued benefits.
  • In BLUE HAWK Retirement, your plan is still your plan—and it helps you keep your competitive edge.
  • The group rate may be less than you’re already paying.

Strength—and value—in numbers

By joining BLUE HAWK Retirement group 401(k) program with Lincoln, you get:

  • Individual attention.
  • Access to potential pricing and service efficiencies—economies of scale—that you may not have by sponsoring a plan on your own.
  • The power of a group plan with the flexibility to customize your own plan design—retaining a design that’s working for you or changing to one that will. No need to forfeit your business’s distinct needs.

Meaning, you get to offer a plan that makes sense for you and your employees, vetted by BLUE HAWK and other businesses like yours, all at a competitive group cost for each business that joins.

Schedule 15 minutes with Andrew Thompson to explore what BLUE HAWK Group 4019(k) program can do for your business.  And check out this video to learn more about the value of group 401(k) plans.

Sun Valley offers great options for terrain, winter activities and on-mountain dining. Create winter memories with your fellow BLUE HAWK Members, Vendor Partners and Solution Partners at the amazing networking opportunity.

This trip is suitable for first-time skiers through advanced and everyone in between.  Non-skiers will have plenty of fun options as well.

2016 Kick Hunger From Nest Gives Back Volunteers at the North Texas Food Bank

The 7th Cooperative Principle is Concern for Community.

For 2021, BLUE HAWK is going to focus our Gives Back initiative on our communities. If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that community matters. So many people are still struggling to get through this pandemic and now more than ever our communities need support. We know so many of you already do a lot in your community, so keep up the good work. And we want to hear about it.

For the rest of the year, send us your stories of giving back to your community. Whether it’s through your team doing hands-on volunteer work, making charitable donations to causes in your area, donating supplies or other items to those in need, etc. Wherever you feel the need is most impactful in your area, please take advantage of this opportunity and dive in.

We will be sharing photos, stories, and whatever information you send us. If your company’s philanthropic event already took place for the year, send us that information also.

Let’s help others get through this year and beyond.

We’ve gotten a couple submissions are looking for more.  We will start sending out information on the submissions soon and the drawing for the three $1,000 prizes will take place on December 15.  Don’t delay at your chance to win your charity of choice a $1,000 prize donation.

Thank you for your continued support of our Gives Back projects.
